About Us
My husband and I grew up in a very small, rural town in Stockton Illinois in a very beautiful area in Jo-Daviess County where we are surrounded by rolling hills and plenty of trees and crop land. We met while we were both young, before college and got married at a young age in our early twenties. We have always been interested in a natural, healthy, simple way of living and after a couple of years of marriage started our family.
We have experienced blessing and loss and that is why we named our company Real Living Markets, Inc. Because life is real and God-given. It’s not always easy, but we have to keep on going. We are called to live real, eat real, and be real. We have been blessed with seven children and it is good to see them growing up and taking part in our businesses and creating their own as well.

Interestingly enough, from a young age, my husband and myself both wanted to become doctors of chiropractic. Chiropractic made sense because chiropractors seek to treat the root cause of various health problems by looking to the spine, which houses the spinal cord and serves as the exit point of nerve roots. Since the central nervous system is the master control system of the body, it makes sense that any misalignment of the spine can cause interference in how the body works and can lead to a state of dis-ease, which ultimately may lead to disease.
Foreign or synthetic substances do not suit the body well for a healthy lifestyle and the lights turned on for us in 2010 as to the impact that nutrition has on the body as well as a healthy functioning spine and nervous system. It was a year after I had my fifth child that I did my first healthy detox or cleanse. Detox sounds like a scary word that only applies to drug addicts, but it is crucial for overall wellbeing to allow your various organ systems to cleanse, heal, and repair. I really didn’t expect much change, because at that time I felt that we already ate better than approximately 90% of the population in that I cooked all of our food from scratch (no boxed or pre-packaged food or chips or other junk-food) and we either ate meat that we raised or that we had purchased from another farmer.
I had been exhausted from all of the duties of running businesses and the duties of parenting and managing a small coaching business and rental property. After 21-days, I was down to 120 pounds and had more energy than I ever remembered having. That opened my eyes to the significant impact that nutrition has on our body and had a very personal impact that became very real to me.
We have grown some unique crops like popcorn and are in our second season of growing organic hemp. It has been a learning experience and it has allowed us to take a plant, which we initially knew very little of, to an end stage product and be able to offer a high-quality CBD oil that has great benefits in maintaining balance within the body. It fits into a healthy lifestyle in the way it interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system to help the body adjust to life’s aging effects and stressors and to decrease the body’s inflammation.
It feels good to produce such a great product from our farm that will be able to help so many people.
